| Abstract |
| The transformation of environmental sustainability into a strategic priority for organizations has made employee behaviors and consequently, leadership approaches a significant area of research in achieving these goals. This study examines how employees’ perceptions of sustainable leadership influence their environmental organizational citizenship behaviors. It also explores the mediating role of green organizational behaviors in this relationship. Theoretically, the study is structured within the framework of Bandura’s social cognitive learning theory (1986), which posits that individuals develop behaviors through observing social models. The research was conducted through a survey administered to 500 employees working in SMEs operating in the Central Anatolia Region of Türkiye. The collected data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The findings show that sustainable leadership has a significant and positive effect on both green organizational behaviors and environmental citizenship tendencies. Additionally, green organizational behaviors partially mediate this effect. The study offers a theoretical contribution by examining the interaction between sustainable leadership, green organizational behaviors, and environmental organizational citizenship from a holistic perspective. It also provides a sustainability-oriented roadmap for managers to promote environmental responsibility within organizations. |
